IS THERE A CAMERA CONNECTED
TO YOUR WINDSHIELD?

The forward-facing camera is part of your vehicle's advanced safety systems, sometimes called advanced driver assistance safety systems (ADAS).

These driver assistance systems protect drivers through a range of capabilities, creating a circular safety net around the vehicle to help reduce the risk of collisions. The forward-facing front cameras enable advanced safety features to aid and warn drivers on the road.

The ADAS camera systems are designed to work together to enhance vehicle safety by alerting the driver to potential problems and avoiding collisions – they can aid, warn and assist.

Some examples include automatic emergency, braking, forward collision warning, lane assist, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, collision avoidance, and more. If so equipped, the camera's proper operation is a critical component of your vehicle's advanced safety system.

For the camera and the advanced safety systems to continue to work properly, whenever a windshield is replaced in a vehicle that has ADAS features, the camera attached to the windshield must be calibrated to ensure proper functionality and to restore the vehicle to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications. With your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), we can tell you if you have ADAS features and if so, which features your windshield/camera support.

We will never risk your safety or that of your passengers. A windshield camera calibration is a quick and secure process and  is the best way to ensure you are as safe as you can be behind the wheel.

CAN I DECLINED A CALIBRATION?

If the system is not calibrated correctly, safety features may not work as intended. If the cameras/radars/lasers on the vehicle are off by even a few millimetres they may not give accurate readings and the system may not do its job in an emergency.

A good auto glass company will not replace a windshield on a vehicle with an ADAS system without performing the accurate calibration procedures corresponding to the vehicle.
